How to create a beautiful Mehndi Night set up at home.
We absolutely adore Mehndi nights! They’re one of our favourite pre-wedding events and hosting this at home gives it that personal touch creating an intimate and wholesome evening/morning with your friends and family. In this blog post, we’ll guide you through the process of how to create a beautiful mehndi night set up at home ensuring it’s an event everyone will remember forever.
- Pick a theme and decor
Be as traditional or untraditional as you’d like! Choose a theme that best describes your personality and go with that (e.g. Bohemian, Arabian nights, Indian market, Tropical Jungle). Once you’ve decided on the theme, select decorations accordingly. Consider the ‘less is more’ aspect for this and you’ll surprise yourself with how effective this is.

2. Create a comfortable seating arrangement
Ensure there’s enough comfortable seating for all your guests. Use floor cushions, low tables, or traditional rugs for a more authentic feel. You can also add some throw pillows to add to the comfort and style.
3. Set up a Mehndi Station
Designate an area for the mehndi application. You can either hire a professional henna artist or ask a talented friend or family member to do the honors. Provide a variety of henna designs for guests to choose from, or let the artist freestyle. Have some reference images for inspiration.

4. Entertainment
Arrange for some entertainment to keep the party lively. You can hire a traditional singing group to perform, have a DJ playing Bollywood or traditional music (Spotify works great too) or organize games and activities related to Mehndi celebrations.
5. Delectable Food and Drinks:
Food is an integral part of any celebration. Serve a mix of traditional and contemporary dishes to cater to all tastes. Some popular options include biryani pots, kebabs, samosas, and a variety of desserts. Don’t forget to have your bar well stocked and of course some non alcoholic drinks too.
We highly recommend Gilded Grazing as they specialise in South Asian Grazing boards (@gildedgrazingnz)
6. Mehndi Favors
Prepare small, thoughtful favors for your guests to take home. It could be henna cones, bangles, trinkets, or personalized keepsakes as a memento of the special night.

7. Capture the Moments
You’ll look back at these beautiful moments from years to come so make sure you hire a photographer you love and trust to capture these memories for you (we’re pretty great at this too hehe 😜)
By carefully planning the theme, decor, entertainment, food, and favors, you can create a magical evening that celebrates both tradition and personal style. Your Mehndi night will be a cherished memory and a wonderful start to your wedding celebrations.
Hope this helps x
Lots of love,
